Michael Smart has been a fixture in Fredericksburg’s entertainment scene for over a decade. Combining all genres, he will keep the crowd on their feet, anticipating the next song in his unique fusion sets!
He started out in the business learning from the best DJs in the Fredericksburg area. He has been the featured DJ for multiple charity organizations, including Stafford’s National Night and the Grace Oughton Foundation. He has spun hits with B101.5’s Bill Carroll, DJ Tony B, and DJ Kid Casper, and is currently the House DJ for Brock’s Riverside Bar and Grill.
He has rocked weddings at all the best venues in the area, including the Fawn Lake Country Club, Stevenson Ridge, and the Inn at The Olde Silk Mill.
He was also a professional comedian. He has performed all over the nation, including the DC Improv, the La Jolla Comedy Store, and the Arlington Drafthouse. His background in comedy makes him the perfect emcee for your event. Weddings require so much more preparation than your average event. We are most often booked with or right after the client books the venue. During that time we build a relationship with you and your future spouse, learn about how you met, your interests, and who proposed. Throughout the process of building that relationship, we will discover your personalities and musical tastes to create a customized reception. Using the latest in sound and lighting technology, combined with an extensive music library, you and your guests will have a completely unique celebration.

Whether you want some soft dinner music, fun cocktail party songs, dance floor hits, themed music, or anything in between, our DJs have just the right songs and can seamlessly transition between them to keep your guests happy and raving about the party in the morning.

Playing music by everyone and for everyone, Michael Smart will fill the club with his unique sounds. He can take over the tables to play for a wide range of audiences, whether it is the Top 40 radio crowd, the international EDM crowd, or the always fickle hip-hop crowd. FAQ
1. How much experience do you have?
All the DJs associated with Michael Smart Productions have at least 10 years of experience, performing at weddings, clubs, and for private events.
2. Do you take requests?
All of the client's requests will be played. Additionally, if there are any songs that you specifically do not want to hear, we will honor that as well. If you allow your guests to make requests and the request fits in well with what we are playing at the time, then we will fit the request into the playlist. We will not play a song or music genre that you have specifically asked not to be played or is inappropriate for the event.
3. When should I book a DJ?
The sooner the better! The venue and entertainment should be the first two vendors to tackle for any event. DJs are generally booked over 6 months in advance, but we will work to accommodate last minute requests as well.
4. How do I book a DJ?

5. Why don’t you offer a flat rate?
You and your event is unique, one size does not fit all. You may just want us to play background music for a few hours, or you may need music and/or sound equipment for wedding ceremony and reception. You might need any number of specializations, including uplighting, or a photobooth, etc. The consultation is for us to get a clear idea of your specific needs for your event.
6. We are loving the music and want to keep dancing, will you keep playing past the contracted time?
Yes, we are able to play past the contracted time only if we do not have a later event booked. If you are enjoying yourself, feel free to ask the DJ to continue playing. Overtime rates will be discussed at the time of booking.
7. Should I tip the DJ?
Gratuity is NOT included in the final contract price. 10 – 20% is standard for any event.
